Our Ministry Team

We are very fortunate to have a large number of people providing leadership across the five parishes of the Skegness Group.   This is no accident.

Over the years the Churches have identified people in whom they have confidence and encouraged them to make more of their Christian commitment through the Diocesan Training Scheme.

The Diocese has a Local Ministry Coordination Team in Lincoln and they have recently reviewed the scheme.   They have put in a more flexible approach to training and support that is tailored to local communities and values people's experience and previous

learning.   If there is someone in whom you have confidence to train for formal ministry, please drop the Rector a note at the Parish Office with the name of that person with a short paragraph as to why you think they would be a good addition to our ministry team.

Current accredited Lay Ministers are: Gwen Drury, Jean Smith, Linda Harwood, Tina Sparkes, Beryl Damms, Eric Damms, Pam Allott, Doreen Watkinson

On-going Activities

Our Chaplaincies and Courses provide support to many people. At St Mary, Winthorpe we run a Church-sitting project with 35 volunteers and the new carpet has been laid.   Our fundraising for the improvements to St Peter & St Paul, Ingoldmells, has brought in enough to do all the work of modernisation and repair needed to this fine old building; the new toilet and kitchen were installed in May 2008 and the builders return in November to level the floor and install vestry screens and glass doors to the porch..   The roof at St Nicholas, Addlethorpe and St Clement, Skegness are to be repaired in November. We are working on plans for the re-ordering of St Matthew's Church including relocation of the font so that it can be used for Baptisms.   Improvements to the Kitchen and Toilets at St Clement's Hall were completed in March 2010 at a cost of £25,000.  The West Room at St Matthew's Church, Skegness, has been converted to accommodate a Kitchen and three toilets.  The cost of £47,000 included new electrical supply, damp-proofing and plumbing.  Further planned developments at St Matthew's Church include improved seating, development with others of a Heritage Skegness project, and re-ordering of the east end to improve access for community activities.
